€50 million for BiH projects: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering a €50 million loan for 8 solar PV projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Representing a combined 85 MW capacity, these facilities will be spread across Zivnice, Mostar, and Breza. National utility JP Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine d.d. Sarajevo (EPBiH) plans to develop, construct and operate these assets. EBRD’s financing will help cover the estimated €80.8 million CapEx of the project.
Solar & storage partnership in Ukraine: UK-based Octopus Energy Group and Ukraine’s DTEK have launched a new initiative called Resilient Independent Solar Energy (RISE) to promote rooftop solar and storage systems in Ukraine. These will be installed for businesses and public sector institutions. Through RISE, they aim to raise €100 million to finance 100 on-site energy projects over the next 3 years. The duo stressed that this will help stabilize the grid, lower electricity costs for customers and protect them against outages and price hikes. DTEK’s D. Solutions will install the systems directly on customer premises.
129 MW PV online: Low Carbon has commissioned 4 large-scale solar PV projects with a combined capacity of 129 MW in the UK. These include 49.9 MW Feldon Vale in Warwickshire, 21 MW Pepperhill in Shropshire, 19 MW Long Meadow and 39 MW Birch in Essex. The latter has a co-located 30 MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
Growth in solar & storage: MCS, the UK’s accreditation body for low-carbon energy technology products, counts more than 21,000 certified small-scale solar installations in the UK in May 2025, according to local media. This is a 30% year-on-year (YoY) increase, thus exceeding 100,000 total installations within 2025. MCS CEO Ian Rippin said that May also turned out to be the best month on record for battery storage, as it recorded nearly 3,400 certified installations, breaking its previous high achieved in March 2025. It represents a 112% year-on-year (YoY) increase. According to Rippin, this shows growing confidence in home-grown energy.
