Finland has launched its first renewable energy tender open to various technologies. It plans to contract 1.4 TWh of total capacity through the tender from solar, wind, biogas, biomass and wave power. The Finnish Energy Agency, Energiavirasto hasn't specified individual capacities for the competing technologies.
The agency will accept bids from November 15, 2018 to December 31, 2018. The government expects annual cost to the state for this auction to be €7 million ($8.03 million).

Finland targets to achieve over 50% share of renewables in the total energy mix by 2020. In 2017, renewable energy accounted for about 40% of end-use energy.
