France has awarded more than 150 MW rooftop solar capacity to 361 winners of a tender it launched in September 2016. The total tender capacity was 1,350 MW.
The 150 MW are supposed to come up on buildings, greenhouses, agricultural hangars and parking shadows. The 150 MW awards are only the first of multi-annual calls for tenders. France aims to tender the entire capacity of 1,350 MW between 2017 and 2020 in nine application rounds of 150 MW each.
The average price of the winning tenders was €106.7 per MWh. The major part in the first round will be built in the New Aquitaine region with 39.8 MW.
In March 2017, France awarded 520 MW of large scale and self-consumption capacity through a competitive tender (see France Awards 520 MW).
