  • Engie has signed an agreement with Gabonese financial institution Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) to deploy 2.2 MW of hybrid solar power capacity
  • It will come up in eight locations that are currently dependent on oil-fired thermal power stations
  • Engie's subsidiary Ausar Energy is providing the hybrid solution in the range of 50 kW to 2.5 MW range with an option to add storage facilities

Gabon is working towards deploying eight hybrid solar power plants with a total capacity of 2.2 MW to save on fuel cost. With this project, Gabon expects to save 1 million litres of fuel oil annually, and reduce the generation costs by 30%.

The eight locations where the solar capacity will be deployed currently depend on oil-fired thermal power stations for their electricity requirements.

French energy company Engie is working on this project through its subsidiary Ausar Energy that offers hybrid solar power plant solutions in the range of 50 kW to 2.5 MW. The project has an option to add storage capacities. Construction is scheduled to begin in a few weeks.

An agreement has been signed with Gabonese financial institution Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) for the deployment of the solar capacity. Other collaborators for this project are the Gabonese Ministry of Energy and the Gabonese energy and water company Société d'Énergie et d'Eau du Gabon (SEEG).
