Bundesnetzagentur (Federal Network Agency of Germany) registered overwhelming interest to its solar power technology specific tender dated July 1, 2020. As against 192.716 MW on offer, the agency received 174 bids with an aggregate volume of 779.418 MW. It eventually selected 30 bids representing 193.272 MW for solar power.
The lowest and highest winning bids of €0.0469 and €0.0536 ($0.056 to €0.064) per kWh dropped lower than €0.049 to €0.054 per kWh received last time for the March 1, 2020 technology specific tender. The average weighted winning bid of €0.0518 ($0.062) per kWh also dropped lower than last round's €0.0527 per kWh (see Over 99 MW PV Awarded In German Tender). For this tender, bids were capped at €0.075 ($0.089) per kWh.
With these auction results, solar PV technology has once again scored over wind power as has been seen over the recent auctions concluded by the agency.
Compared to solar, the wind power tender was undersubscribed as 26 bids totaling 191 MW were received in response to 275.176 MW offered by the agency. Lowest and highest bids ranged between €0.055 to €0.062 ($0.065 to €0.074) per kWh while weighted average was determined as €0.0614 ($0.073) per kWh.
The agency will hold yet another technology specific solar and wind power tender on September 1, 2020. On the same date, it will also hold innovation tenders for the same date, as declared previously. Earlier this month, the agency invited bids for 650 MW under its innovation tender with offshore wind, solar PV and biomass as eligible technologies (see 650 MW Innovation Tender For Renewables In Germany).
