Germany Awards 205 MW PV In 3rd PV Auction Of 2019

Against the ceiling tariff of €0.075 per kWh for the 150 MW solar tender in Germany, winning bids ranged between €0.0497 and €0.0558 per kWh and average winning bid was at €0.0547 per kWh, which is lower than in March but higher than in February.

The 3^rd solar PV auction of 2019 in Germany has found 14 winning bids to develop 205 MW in the country
Original capacity tendered was only 150 MW but the tender was oversubscribed; 105 bids offered to develop 556 MW but only 205 MW was finally awarded
Lowest bid received was €0.0497 ($0.0557) per kWh and average winning bid was €0.0547 ($0.0613) per kWh
Federal Network Agency of the country has announced next bidding round for 4^th solar PV auction in 2019 to be held on October 1, 2019

In the 3^rd solar PV tender for 2019 by Germany's Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) a total of 14 projects were awarded 204.69 MW capacity, which is much higher than the 150 MW originally tendered. The tender was totally oversubscribed – it received 105 bids for more than 556 MW capacity. Oversubscription was due to a bid for a very large plant, Bundesnetzagentur said.

In this round, the agency had to cancel 13 bids with 46 MW due to technical errors. Bids for the tender were capped at €0.075 ($0.084) per kWh.

Winning bids ranged between €0.0497 and €0.0558 ($0.0557 and $0.0625) per kWh. The average winning tariff was €0.0547 ($0.0613) per kWh which has come down around 17% from €0.0659 ($0.0738) per kWh in the second PV auction this year that was held in March 2019 (see Germany Awards 505 MW In Solar Tender).

The List of winners include Enerparc, which won 41 MW, Belectric, among others. Winning projects will be located in eastern and southern states of Germany.

The next bidding round is scheduled for October 1, 2019.
