Germany Installed 235 MW Solar In June 2019

Between January 2019 and June 2019, Germany’s solar PV capacity installations have been gradually coming down. Yet at the end of H1/2019 the country managed to deploy over 2 GW capacity, compared to 1.3 GW in H1/2018.

  • Germany's newly installed solar power capacity during June 2019 was 227.6 MW, according to provisional numbers shared by Bundesnetzagentur
  • This is lower than the 342.5 MW installed a year back in June, but the numbers take H1/2019 total to over 2 GW, compared to 1.3 GW in H1/2018
  • Cumulative installed solar PV capacity of the country as on June 30, 2019 exceeded 47.9 GW

Germany added 235 MW of solar in June 2019, which is a slight improvement over previous month's 227.6 MW, which adjusted a little downward  from the 228.8 MW previously published by the country's Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) for May 2019 (see Germany Installed 228.8 MW Solar PV In May 2019).

The June 2019 numbers are lower than the 342.5 MW installed a year back, according Bundesnetzagentur. Yet the provisional numbers for the month take the total installed solar PV capacity of Germany during the first 6 months of 2019 to over 2 GW which is significantly higher than the 1.3 GW added in H1/2018 (see Very Strong Growth In Germany In H1/2018).

While it is obviously that the country will again meets its 2.5 GW annual target, it will also exceed last year's 3 GW additions if additions stay at the currently rathe 'low' level (see Germany Installed Close To 3 GW Solar In 2018).

Cumulative installed capacity for solar PV systems in Germany was 47.94 GW by June 30, 2019, which leaves only 4 GW until the  52 GW cap of the FIT law will be reached.
