August 2018 PV additions in Germany reached 354.74 MW, which is a growth of well over 100% on August 2017 number of 162 MW

During first 8 months of the year, it deployed close to 2 GW PV, which is more than the entire PV capacity added during 2017

Cumulative PV capacity of the country at the end of August 2018 was 44.948 MW

Germany's Bundesnetzagentur (Federal Network Agency) reported that 354.74 MW PV were installed in August 2018 in the country, which takes total additions since the beginning of 2018 to over 1,987 MW, inching closer to its annual target of 2.5 GW.

Last year, only 1.2 GW was added in the first eight months. In fact, Germany deployed only 1.75 GW PV in 2018, falling short of the annual target by 40% (see Germany's 1.75 GW Of PV In 2017 Misses Target).

While the August 2018 addition means a growth rate of more than 100% over last year's 162.44 MW, it marks also the highest monthly installation number this year. Prior, June was the strongest month in 2018, adding 342.5 MW. In July 2018, Germany added 269.7 MW PV  (see Germany Installed 270 MW PV In July 2018).

The August 2018 numbers include close to 114 MW of ground mount installations.

Germany's cumulative PV capacity should have crossed the 45 GW level now. At the end of August 2018, it stood at 44.948 GW.
