Greek renewable energy market operator DAPEEP has announced June 26, 2024 as the day it will hold the 1st tender of its Guarantees of Origin auctions for renewable energy.
This will be the country's 1st of 3 auctions it plans to conduct in 2024 for electricity produced from renewable energy sources. Under the 1st auction, DAPEEP will issue certificates for renewable energy produced during Q4/2023.
The 2nd auction round is tentatively scheduled for September 25, 2024, for electricity produced during Q1/2024. The last of these 3 auctions is planned for December 11, 2024, to cover electricity production in Q2/2024.
The Guarantees of Origin will be offered for 3 products, namely grid-connected solar PV systems, grid-connected wind power stations, and solar PV and wind farms in non-interconnected regions.
For each of the products, DAPEEP will hold a separate auction per 3-hour period, starting from 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 5:00 PM local time.
Earlier this year, Greece's Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAAEY) launched a 200 MW auction for wind and solar power plants as the country's 1st under the European Union's cross-border energy trade for countries in the European Economic Area (see Greece Opens Cross-Border Renewable Energy Auction).
