Greece has come out with the results of its 3rd joint solar and wind power auction with the country's Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) awarding 350 MW (349.9 MW to be precise) to 49 projects.
The 3rd joint wind and solar PV auction was first launched in January 2021 with both the technologies vying for 350 MW on offer with RAE fixing ceiling tariff at €53.86 per MWh or €0.05386 per kWh (see Greece Announces 350 MW Wind & Solar PV Tender).
According to the RAE, the oversubscribed tender attracted 126 projects in the form of 2,188 bids for PV power plants of up to 20 MW and wind power plants of up to 50 MW capacity. It chose 49 projects of the lot to award the entire capacity. While the RAE's announcement does not specify how much was won by both the participating technologies individually, Balkan Green Energy News cited local press reports to say there were no wins for wind power plants.
Interestingly, the lowest winning bid of €0.03297 per kWh was more than 38% down from the ceiling tariff and was offered by Egnatia Group for a 19.3 MW project in the municipality of Argous Orestikou. It was also one of the biggest winners in the auction,
The highest winning tariff was determined as €0.0512 per kWh. The weighted average price was €0.0376 per kWh, a 30% drop from the ceiling price. A complete list of winners can be viewed on RAE's website.
Greece had previously awarded 437.8 MW renewable energy capacity under the country's 1st joint wind and solar auction with lowest winning bid of €0.053 per kWh and weighted average price of €0.057 per kWh (see Greece Awards Over 437 MW In 600 MW RE Auction).
The 2nd joint auction allotted 502.94 MW to both the participating technologies, with lowest winning bid of €0.04911 per kWh, and weighted average of €0.05159 per kWh (see Greece Allocates Over 502 MW In Joint RE Auction).
