Sungrow Expands India Production Capacity To 10 GW & More From Halo, Adani, Avaada

China's Sungrow has scaled up its India production capacity to 10 GW annually; 20 MW solar for Nagaland by Halo Energie; Adani Solar & SPI to target 5 MW solar deployment in India's rural and peri-urban areas; Bharti Airtel invests in another Avaada Energy SPV.

Sungrow's India capacity expanded to 10 GW: Chinese solar PV inverter supplier Sungrow has expanded its annual production capacity in India to 10 GW. Back in 2018, the company launched its manufacturing facility in Bengaluru with 3 GW annual capacity as its 1st fab outside of China. Now it claims 10 GW annual capacity in India where it has supplied 11 GW worth of inverters already. Indian Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Bhagwanth Khuba during the virtual inauguration ceremony said, "With this 10 GW manufacturing unit, Sungrow can cater to different customer segments including residential, commercial & industrial, utility-scale levels and the customers worldwide." During the ceremony, Sungrow also launched SG350HX and 1+X modular inverters into the Indian market.

Halo Energie to build 20 MW solar project: Halo Energie Pvt Ltd has secured the State Government of Nagaland for a 20 MW solar power plant in Dimapur which will be the state's 1st greenfield solar power project. The project will be stationed in Ganeshnagar Industrial Area and will generate around 28 million kWh annually. The PPA has been signed for a tariff of INR 4.14 per kWh which was approved by the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Adani Solar and SPI join hands for rooftop solar: Rockefeller Foundation's Indian subsidiary Smart Power India (SPI) and Adani Solar have signed a non-financial and non-commercial memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote rooftop solar in India's rural regions. The target is to achieve 5 MW of solar deployment through Adani Solar's channel partners in rural and peri-urban areas of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.

Bharti Airtel invests in Avaada SPV: Bharti Airtel has announced an agreement to acquire 9.012% equity stake in Avaada CleanTN Project Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up to develop 50 MW AC/65 MW DC solar power plant. Airtel will purchase this stake for INR 78.8 million ($1.03 million). The telecom service provider has entered the deal to comply with regulatory requirement for captive power plants under the provisions of Electricity Act 2003 and Indian Electricity Rules 2005, and procurement of cost-effective renewable energy. Earlier Bharti Airtel had acquired 3.33% stake in another Avaada SPV and increased the same to 8.5%.
