Azure Power Bags EOI For 1.7 GW Renewables & More From JENWA, Mercom, Goldi

Azure Power announces EOIs for 1.7 GW RE in Karnataka and commissioning of 90 MW project in Assam; ADB approves INR 4.06 billion for JENWA's 80 MW project; Mercom reports Jakson, SJVN and SAEL as winners of 410 MW solar auctioned; Goldi Solar says it will train over 2,000 by 2025.

Azure Power signs EOI for 1.7 GW RE: Indian renewable energy independent power producer (IPP), Azure Power has signed an expression of interest (EoI) with Karnataka to develop 1.7 GW of solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects in the state. Without sharing too many details, the company said the EOI strengthens its commitment to develop high performing grid scale renewable energy assets here while contributing to the country's decarbonization efforts. Currently, the company owns and operates close to 2.9 GW of renewable energy assets across India.

Largest solar plant of Assam online: Azure Power has also announced complete commissioning of its 90 MW solar power project in Assam, the state's largest so far. It was energized in phases, with final 25 MW commissioned in Cachar. The entire portfolio is also spread in Udalguri, Kamrup and Nagaon. It is contracted to supply power to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for 25 years for a tariff of INR 3.34 ($0.044) per kWh.

ADB financing for Al Jomaih Energy's solar project: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of INR 4.063 billion ($53 million) to support an 80 MW solar power project of Al Jomaih Energy and Water Company (JENWA). The Saudi Arabian electricity utility plans to develop this project in Gujarat, as per the ADB, on about 300 acres of leased land. The AJ Solar Power Project will be executed by AEW India West One Private Limited. Project approval details are available on ADB's website.

Solar auction winners for 410 MW capacity: Mercom India Research says Jakson Group won the comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) tender for 260 MW solar project of NTPC Limited at Bhadla Solar Park in Rajasthan. It will be in charge for a period of 3 years, beginning May 13, 2022. It also identifies SJVN and SAEL as winners of a 150 MW solar auction of Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL) after the quoted tariffs were approved by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC). SJVN secured 100 MW and SAEL 50 MW capacity, for INR 2.65 per kWh winning tariff each.

Goldi Solar to train over 2,000 by 2025: Indian solar power company Goldi Solar says it will train and hire more than 2,000 people by 2025 as solar workforce. In a statement issued by the company and quoted by the Press Trust of India (PTI), Goldi Solar said it will also roll out an initiative to support young micro-entrepreneurs with innovative ideas for solar sector. The company is based out of Surat in Gujarat where it operates 500 MW solar module production capacity and plans to expand it by 2 GW (see India PV News Snippets: AP, Goldi, Jinchen, ACME, Waaree).
