PTC India’s 1 GW Wind & Solar EOI Attracts 3.5 GW In Response & More From RUMSL, Tata Power, Mahindra

PTC India's 1 GW RE EOI has received offers for 3.5 GW capacity; Mercom says RUMSL has awarded 300 MW floating solar capacity to NTPC, SJVN and Hinduja Renewables; Tata Power wins LOA for 150 MW solar project; Mahindra has formed new solar subsidiary called Emergent Solren.

Overwhelming response to PTC India's 1 GW tender: PTC India Limited has received offers adding up to 3.5 GW renewable energy capacity against its 1 GW tender for hybrid wind and solar capacity launched in September 2022 (see India: 1 GW Renewable Energy Procurement Tender). According to a company statement reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency, PTC received proposals from 14 top renewable energy producers including Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), Torrent Power, ReNew Power, Enel Green and Engie Power, among others. Projects offered range between 100 MW to 500 MW, and located in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

300 MW floating PV capacity auctioned under phase II: Mercom India Research says the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (RUMSL) has auctioned 300 MW floating solar capacity under phase II of its 600 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Plant. The winners are NTPC Renewable Energy that has won 90 MW capacity for INR 3.69 ($0.045) per kWh, and Hinduja Renewables secured 80 MW for INR 3.70 ($0.045) per kWh.

Winner of 83 MW is SJVN through its subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited. SJVN announced the same in a stock exchange filing of winning it for INR 3.70 per kWh. It will realize the project on build-own-operate (BOO) basis. SJVN said it expects the project to generate 187 million units in the 1st year of its operation and 4,410 million units over a period of 25 years, all of which will be supplied to RUMSL for 25 years.

Phase I of the 600 MW project of RUMSL, also with 300 MW capacity, was auctioned to Amp Energy, NHDC and SJVN in May 2022 (see India PV News Snippets).

Tata Power's 150 MW solar win: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has secured letter of award (LOA) for a 150 MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL). It will be completed within 18 months from the power purchase agreement (PPA) execution date.

Mahindra forms new solar subsidiary: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has formed a new wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra Holdings Company, calling it Emergent Solren Private Limited (ESPL). It will produce and sell solar power along with being active in distributed energy including rooftop solar installation for commercial and industrial (C&I), institutional and residential segments, solar water pump and other related matters, as per the company announcement.
