1.2 GW ISTS hybrid tender: The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a notice inviting tender (NIT) for 1.2 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected wind- solar hybrid power capacity under tranche-IV. It plans to formally launch the request for selection (RFS) round with official documents to be published by April 15, 2021.

US order for Sterling and Wilson Solar: The US subsidiary of India's Sterling and Wilson Solar Limited (SWSL), Sterling and Wilson Solar Solutions, Inc (SWSS) has bagged an order worth $121.7 million from an unidentified company in the US. The project is expected to be commissioned by Q4/2022 with SWSS expected to manage entire turn-key execution. It referred to the client as an existing customer in the US and the project location somewhere in the Pacific Northwest region. SWSS's Country Head Amit Jain shared the order takes its cumulative orders booked in the US to around $260 million.

70 MW commissioned in UP: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has commissioned 70 MW out of an 85 MW solar power plant it has been developing in Bilhaur region of Uttar Pradesh (UP) state. The 70 MW of Bilhaur Solar PV Project started commercial operations officially on March 28, 2021, NTPC announced in a stock exchange filing. It takes the group's total commissioned capacity to 64.49 GW. At Bilhaur, it already has an operational solar power capacity of 140 MW (see India PV News Snippets: GUVNL, NTPC, TANGEDCO, SolarArise).

Solar cell tender by BHEL: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has issued a tender for the supply of mono PERC solar cells with 5.62 W and multicrystalline cells with 4.72 W power rating. Quantity for both types of cells is required to be 18,000. Both cells should use 5 busbar (BB) technology and have a wafer size of 158.75 mm. The vendor should have a minimum of 10 MW per annum in-house multicrystalline silicon solar cell and mono PERC cell production capacity each. Though it is seeking proposals from original multicrystalline solar cell manufacturers, but original equipment manufacturers (OEM) can also submit the same through their authorized channel partners. Last date to submit bids is April 7, 2021, according to tender announcement on BHEL website.

REIL wants solar cells: Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL) has come out with a notice inviting tender (NIT) to source 150,000 multicrystalline silicon solar cells with 4.50 W, and 150,000 cells with 4.60 W each. Technical specifications for both kinds of cells is 156*156 ± 1.0mm / 156.75*156.75 ± 1.0 mm. Last date to submit bids is April 15, 2021. Tender details will be available on the https://eprocure.gov.in/cppp/ website of the Government of India with tender ID 2021_REIL_625141_1 for 4.50W, and for 4.60W the tender ID is 2021_REIL_625165_1.
