Macquarie offloads Vibrant Energy: Inox Clean Energy Limited, part of India’s INOXGFL Group, has acquired Vibrant Energy, a Macquarie-owned independent power producer (IPP) platform. With this acquisition, Inox has acquired a 1.337 GW diversified C&I platform with projects spread across multiple states and contracted with major C&I customers. Of this capacity, 800 MW is operational. This acquisition supports the company’s overarching ambition to reach 3 GW of renewable energy capacity by FY28. INOXGFL Group CFO Akhil Jindal said the group is on the verge of closing multiple other acquisitions under Inox Clean. “With its 10 GW operational power generation capacity along with 11 GW of solar module and 8 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity targets by FY28, Inox Clean should achieve a consolidated annual revenue of ~INR 30,000 crore.”
ArcelorMittal adds 1 GW RE to India portfolio: Global steel giant ArcelorMittal has expanded its global renewable energy portfolio to 3.3 GW, with the addition of 1 GW of nominal solar and wind capacity. These facilities comprise a 36 MW solar project in Amravati, Maharashtra; a 400 MW solar with 500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Bikaner, Rajasthan; and a 250 MW wind with 300 MW solar and 300 MWh integrated battery storage in Bachau, Gujarat. All these facilities will be completed between H1 2027 and H1 2028. Power generated from these facilities will be supplied to AMNS India, which is ArcelorMittal’s 60/40 joint venture with Nippon Steel. This also expands its India renewables portfolio to 2 GW.
500 MW EPE deal for RenewSys: Indian solar PV manufacturer Pahal Solar has signed an agreement with RenewSys India Pvt. Ltd. to procure 500 MW of EPE encapsulants from the latter between November 2025 and March 2026. The supply will support Pahal Solar’s expanding solar module manufacturing operations. Pahal Solar said it is driving innovation with a concentrated approach on 520 GSM EPE technology as it aims for module combinations that guarantee superior performance. This is yet another deal for RenewSys in recent times after it secured encapsulant orders from ZNShine Solarworld, and Kosol Energie, among others (see India Solar PV News Snippets).
Revised solar PV module test rules: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued revised guidelines for series approval and testing of solar PV modules to support compulsory BIS registration under the Solar Systems, Devices and Components Quality Control Order, 2025. Modules with a power range of 0.2–20 W used in solar luminaires are temporarily excluded from series approval. Modules up to 5 W for solar lanterns will follow IS 16476 (Part I), while BIS will introduce a separate standard for 5–20 W modules. Testing will typically cover at least 2 modules from each of the lowest, median, and highest power classes of a product family, with retesting required if there are changes in the bill of materials or processes. Minimum efficiency criteria must be met across the family, detailed marking requirements are mandated, and testing must follow the relevant Indian and IEC standards. These revised guidelines replace the earlier version issued in August 2025.
TaiyangNews is coming back to India with the 2nd edition of the Solar Technology Conference India (STC.I 2026) on February 5 and 6 next year. The event will bring together the who’s who and emerging players in the Indian solar PV manufacturing space. Details are available here.
