ALMM compliance: The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is taking the implementation of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar cells seriously. In an advisory issued, it has asked for all tenders with short bidding timelines ‘issued clearly to circumvent’ the ALMM to be scrapped and new bids issued. In an advisory issued, the ministry said that in August 2025, some government agencies have been observed to have issued bids with a very small window for bid submission, as low as 7 days for procurement. It has also instructed all state agencies to strictly comply with the existing rules and regulations when issuing bids for procurement. India is to issue ALMM List-II from June 1, 2026 (see India To Impose ALMM For Solar Cells From June 1, 2026).

Avaada projects in Rajasthan: Avaada Group recently announced 2 solar PV projects in Rajasthan, worth an investment of INR 92 billion. This includes a 1.56 GW solar + 2,500 MWh energy storage project in Pugal, and a 282 MW DC/200 MW AC solar project in Shri Dungargarh, Bikaner. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Pugal project while inaugurating the Bikaner facility. Avaada says both projects use n-type TOPCon bifacial solar panels produced by group entity Avaada Electro. Modi also inaugurated the company’s 280 MW solar project in Surendranagar, Gujarat, and laid the foundation stone of a 100 MW project in the state’s Vadodara district.

950 MW module line: Waaree Energies Limited has announced the commercial operations of a 950 MW solar module manufacturing line. This has come up at its factory in Degam village in the Chikli, Navsari region of Gujarat. In February 2025, the company launched commercial operations of its 1.4 GW solar cell production plant in Chikli (see Waaree Energies Commissions 1.4 GW Solar Cell Manufacturing Factory).
