The Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) has received a tariff as low as INR 1.38 ($0.0186) per kWh in a rooftop tender as the first-year rate for installations on central government buildings.
Mercom India Research quoted Principal Secretary and Commissioner at the New and Renewable Energy Department of Madhya Pradesh, Manu Srivastava as saying that this rate was reached under the so-called RESCO II model and the agency auctioned 8.6 MW grid-connected rooftop solar capacity.
This tariff was offered by Archita Renewable Energy, Balaghat. Hyderabad based TEPSOL Solar Power Ventures Pvt Ltd was selected as the premier (L1) bidder for state government medical colleges with its tariff offering of INR 1.63 ($0.0220) per kWh.
These tariffs are even lower than the INR 1.58 ($0.022) per kWh for central government buildings and INR 1.74 ($0.0235) per kWh for government colleges achieved in the 35 MW rooftop solar capacity tender, auctioned under the RESCO model by the agency in August 2018 (see Record Indian Solar Tariffs As Low As 1.58).
Mercom says these bids were opened at the recently concluded RE-Invest 2018, and soon after, work orders were issued and PPAs signed.
According to Madhya Pradesh's Renewable Energy Policy 2016, the state aims to install 2.2 GW of rooftop PV capacity by 2022 (see Madhya Pradesh Approves Rooftop Policy).
