Gautam Solar, the Indian solar module manufacturer, has announced plans to invest around INR 1,500 million ($18 million) to double its existing annual production capacity to 2 GW. It aims to realize the expansion by the end of calendar year 2024.

Calling itself the largest solar module manufacturer in North India, the company currently operates 1 GW annual production capacity from 4 factories in India's Haridwar. The management has not specified if the expansion will take place at its current manufacturing location.

The expanded capacity will be used to roll out high-efficiency n-type TOPCon and Mono PERC solar modules that the company says are certified as per the Government of India's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for domestic market. These also comply with UL and IEC standards for foreign locations as the US and Europe.

"We are committed to working with the various industry stakeholders to build a strong indigenous solar manufacturing sector in line with the government's vision and help India achieve its Net Zero Goal. As we aim to double our capacity by 2024, it will be another step towards achieving our broader pursuit," said Gautam Solar's CEO Gautam Mohanka. "I am optimistic that our growth trajectory will be further catapulted in the years to come."

Recently, the management revealed plans to invest in the US with a 1 GW annual manufacturing plant (see Day 1 Highlights From RE+ 2023 At Las Vegas).
