  • Israel is parting with $60 million to support various sectors in Africa's Angola, including agriculture and solar
  • Israeli ambassador to Angola, Oren Rosenblat said the support will extend to setting up a 50 MW solar power project
  • The project will be set up by Israeli companies in Benguela, according to a report by ANGOP

State news agency Agência Angola Press (ANGOP) says Israel will support the development of a 50 MW solar power plant in the African country. The said project will be developed in the province of Benguela, a region with irregularity in the demand and supply of energy.

Israel is offering $60 million to Angola to invest in various sectors including agriculture and solar. Israeli firms will be involved in building the project, ANGOP quoted Israeli ambassador Oren Rosenblat as saying. No other details about the project are available as of now, except that the local government has requested Israel's help in setting up the project.

In September 2018, African Development Bank announced $1 million grant to set up a dedicated entity for renewable energy in Angola (see New RE Entity In Angola). The country plans to launch solar PV tenders with 100 MW installed PV capacity, including 10 MW of off-grid power along with setting up a PV panel factory.
