Solar power capacity addition in Italy during H1/2018 went down over 18% YoY to 191 MW. In June 37.7 MW was installed, that's the highest monthly additions since the beginning of this year.
According to provisional statistics shared by Italian renewable energy association Anie Rinnovabili on the basis of data provided by transmission net operator Terna, H1/2017 had around 63 MW of large scale PV capacity completed in May (see Italy Installed 234 MW In H1/2017).
During the first half of 2018, 83.5 MW of PV capacity came from systems below 10 kW range, while 107.2 MW came from installations of over and equal to 10 kW.
In 2017, the region of Lazio had the maximum PV capacity installed with 75.2 MW. During 2018 so far, it is Lombardia that leads with 33.1 MW of commissioned capacity.
In 2017, Italy added 409 MW, growing from previous year's 369 MW (see Italy Installs Over 400 MW PV In 2017). Going by these numbers, till the end of June 2018, Italy had a cumulative PV of 19.79 GW.
Compared to PV, wind power installations plummeted 64% to 100 MW during the reporting period from last year. The additions were flat from H1/2016.
