Italy April 2016 Power Output

The Italian solar plants weren’t as product productive in the first 4 months of 2016 as last year.

Italy generated 17.6% less solar power in April 2016 than in the same month in 2015. Last year in April, the country's PV generation capacity stood at 2.672 GWh, and came down to 2,202 GWh in 2016. Thermoelectric plants generated 12,301 GWh, a year-on-year decrease by 1.5%, though still the highest contributor among electricity generation sources. Hydropower grew 1.4% to 3,760 GWh. On the third position was solar PV.

The April figures are from Italian grid operator Terna Group's Monthly Report on the Electricity System.

From January 2016 to April 2016, solar installations produced 13.7% less than last year, dropping from 7,145 GWh to 6,168 GWh.

The overall electricity demand in the Italy went down by 1.8% in the reporting month.
