Kazakhstan's electricity and power market operator JSC Korem has selected NextEcoEnergy PTE LTD LLP as the winner of a solar auction it concluded on Nov. 12, 2021. The Kazakh company won 20 MW capacity. It offered the lowest winning bid of KZT 12.87 ($0.030) per kWh.
JSC Korem said it received 14 economic proposals for the auction with a combined capacity of 60 MW, with the highest bid going up to KZT 16.96 ($0.039) per kWh.
The 20 MW auctioned capacity for solar is part of 200 MW renewables capacity JSC Korem is expected to auction in 2021, with remaining capacity made up of 50 MW wind, 120 MW hydroelectric and 10 MW bioenergy.
In the year 2020, it awarded 60 MW capacity to solar energy out of 250 MW auctioned with the winning bid of KZT 14.58 per kWh (see Kazakhstan Awards 60 MW Solar Power Capacity).
