600 MW solar complex approved: Brazil's National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has approved a 600 MW solar complex made up of 12 x 50 MW plants. The complex is proposed by Rio Alto Energia to come up in Santa Luzia, Paraiba for an investment worth BRL 2.4 billion. It is estimated to create 1,500 jobs. Aneel's Director General Andre Pepitone said he expects the solar potential of Paraiba to attract investments worth BRL 10 billion by 2026. In June 2021, Rio Alto Energia was reported by Paraiba Governor Joao Azevedo of having plans to establish 1.625 GW Santa Luzia Solar Complex with commercial operations starting from January 2023 (see Solar Panel Factory Planned For Brazil's Paraiba).
