Over 1 MW floating solar plant commissioned as largest in Southern Cone in Chile; Genneia issues $15 million green bond for renewable energy projects; Grenergy says it has become one of the 1st companies globally to sign a PPA for solar and storage projects.

Floating solar plant online in Chile: Chile's O'Higgins region in Las Cabras now hosts a floating solar plant of 1.09 MW capacity. The country's Energy Ministry calls it the largest such project in the Southern Cone, the geographical region comprising the southernmost areas of South America. The project with 1,998 solar panels will cover around 40% of the energy demand of agricultural export company Verfrut on the Quilamuta farm. Commissioned by Solarity, the company plans to add a storage component in the next stage to allow 100% of the farm's electricity needs to be fulfilled from the project.

$15 million for Genneia: Argentinian renewable energy generation company Genneia has issued $15 million green bond to raise funds for its wind and solar power plants. The 162 MW wind project is in Buenos Aires and 60 MW Tocota III solar PV project is located in San Juan province. The latter is projected to come online in Q1/2024. It received offers for more than $89 million.

Non-solar PPA for Grenergy: Grenergy Renovables has signed its 1st non-solar PPA to supply power to Chilean company EMOAC with green energy for 15 years. It will supply more than 8 TWh to EMOAC, having become one of the 1st companies in the world to sign a PPA combining solar power and storage projects, it stated. The PPA will come into effect between 2026 and 2027. Grenergy said this is part of its growth plans linked to energy storage.
