Schletter announces largest PV tracker system in the Caribbean, in Dominican Republic; GOLDBECK SOLAR's Chile solar plants online; MPC & Akuo switch on 26.7 MW solar plant in Colombia; Sudene backs Brazilian PV plant with BRL 114 million funding.

Schletter project in Dominican Republic: Germany's Schletter Group has inaugurated a 97 MW solar power plant in the Dominican Republic. It calls this as the largest PV tracker system in the country and also the largest system of its kind in the Caribbean. It is located in Cumayasa on the southern coast of the country. The German company has used its Schletter Tracking System 2P for the Ecoener developed facility to host close to 180,000 modules. It says the tracker system is as stable as a fixed-tilt system to withstand frequent tropical cyclones and comes with a patented self-locking mechanism to each post. Schletter says the product is approved for wind speeds of up to 257 km/h. It is the German company's 1st tracker system in the country where it has been active since 2011.

Schletter group's 2P and other tracker products are listed in the TaiyangNews 2nd Market Survey of Solar Trackers, published in December 2022. It can be downloaded for free here.

24 MW solar plants online in Chile: Germany's GOLDBECK SOLAR has commissioned 2 solar power plants in Chile with a combined 24 MW capacity. The Paillihue Solar Farm with 12.09 MW capacity features 22,176 bifacial solar panels and 2 central inverters. It will produce 23.3 GWh clean energy/year. Within the same province of Biobío that hosts the Paillihue project, the 11.67 MW Laja Solar Park will generate an estimated 21.2 GWh/year with 21,616 bifacial solar panels. These are the 1st solar parks commissioned by the company in Chile.

Dutch-French cooperation for Colombian project: The Netherlands-based MPC Energy Solutions and France's Akuo Energy have announced the commercial operations of the 26.7 MW Planeta Rica Solar Power Plant in Colombia. Under a 50:50 ownership between the 2, the project is now connected to the local grid to supply 48 GWh annually. Celsia is the offtaker for the facility under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA). It will generate around $1.6 million in proportionate revenues for MPC in 2024. Built by Mota-Egil, the project is backed by financing from Bancolombia.

Sudene backs 60 MW solar in Brazil: The Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has approved BRL 114 million ($23.2 million) funding for a 60 MW solar power plant in Brazil. To be disbursed through the Northeast Development Fund (FDNE), the Serrita II park will bring online a 30 MW solar plant. Along with another 30 MW capacity of Serrita I, the project is part of the Serrita Complex at Sitio Marrecas. The complex has been under construction since August 2023. It involves an investment of BRL 392 million ($80 million) from Enerfin Brasil of the Elecnor Group. Energy generated from the complex will be used to meet the consumption of 52 consumer units in the State of Pernambuco, through a public-private partnership, with an average monthly consumption of 9,303,866.07 kWh/month, informed Sudene. It is scheduled to begin commercial operations in December 2024.
