METLEN secures $865 million deal: Greece’s METLEN Energy & Metals has achieved financial close on the sale of a significant portion of its 588 MW PV projects and 1,610 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) portfolio in Chile worth $865 million. METLEN said that the transaction with Glenfarne Group subsidiary GAC RS Chile II SpA is part of its global asset rotation strategy. It increases the company’s overall liquidity while strengthening its balance sheet.
Mexico green signals PV projects: Mexico’s Energy Secretary Luz Elena González Escobar says the government has selected applications for the development of 20 new projects in the country, including 15 PV facilities with a combined 2.47 GW. The announcement includes 849 MW wind energy projects as well. These projects were selected in October 17, 2025 call for proposals. A 2nd call for proposals is to be launched at the end of January 2026. Dhamma Energy Mexico says it has won 440 MW AC of solar PV capacity in the auction. These facilities will be commissioned in 2028.
PNE AG completes exit from Panama: Germany’s PNE AG has sold its Panama renewable energy entity, ending its presence in the country. The local Managing Director of the entity acquired the service company along with 6 wind and solar projects through a management buyout. The sale concludes PNE’s activities in Panama, which began in 2018, and follows earlier asset sales in 2025. The company says the move aligns with its strategy to exit non-core markets and focus on profitable regions.
19.9 MW solar park in Colombia: The Urrá Solar Park, a 19.9 MW project, has started commercial operations in Tierralta, Córdoba. The project is now grid-connected to the National Interconnected System. Developed by Urrá, this facility is made up of 37,536 bifacial solar panels spread across 42 hectares.
80.3 MW solar project in Guatemala: Spain’s NAIAD Renovables is constructing the 80.3 MW Krystal Solar PV Plant in Guatemala’s Guanagazapa, Escuintla region. The company expects the project to create around 30 direct and 80 indirect jobs during the construction phase. It is scheduled to enter operations in July 2026. It says this facility strengthens the company’s presence in the region.
