300 MW DC solar plant in Peru: Spanish renewables company Zelestra has commissioned a 300 MW DC solar farm in Peru, calling it the country’s largest operational PV power plant. Equipped with 450,000 solar modules, it was delivered within 18 months by Zelestra’s internal EPC division. The San Martin Solar Plant, in La Joya district of Arequipa, will generate 830 GWh of clean energy annually for local electricity generation company Kallpa Generación under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). Kallpa aims to diversify energy sources for its clients in the country with this clean energy addition to its portfolio.
70 MW under construction in Nicaragua: Construction has begun on a 70 MW solar PV project in Nicaragua’s Nindiri, Masaya department. The China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) broke ground on site for the project, which is expected to generate 140,000 MWh annually. It will cover close to 40% of the national water utility ENACAL’s electricity consumption. According to local media reports, the project is being funded by an $83 million investment from Beijing to help ENACAL lower its operational costs and improve its services.
75 MW solar power plant in Uruguay: Uruguay’s state-owned National Administration of Power Plants and Electric Transmissions (UTE) has received 9 bids in response to its EPC tender for a 75 MW solar power plant in Cerro Largo. Local media reports identify the bidders as Teyma Uruguay, Ventus Ingenieria, Diesel Motors Company, Impacto Construcciones, Ingener, Prodie, and Tecnosud.
