Solar PV manufacturing conference: One of the upcoming destinations for solar PV manufacturing beyond China is India, where companies are gathering support from technologists and scientists to develop an upstream value chain. The idea is not just to establish vertical integration but also to make it a resilient and sustainable one. TaiyangNews is bringing together the country’s leading solar PV players and international experts to discuss the progress of solar PV manufacturing in the Asian country for a 2-day physical event in New Delhi, India, on April 10 and 11, 2025. At the event, Máté Heisz of SolarPower Europe will discuss the strategies for solar resilience & beyond. RE-powered data center in Israel: Enlight Renewable Energy has won the 1st ever land tender for an integrated data center and renewable energy facility in Israel’s Ashalim region. The Israel Land Authority (ILA) auction win will enable Enlight to build the data center on a 50-acre site along with a solar and storage facility located adjacent. The clean energy will help meet part of the data center’s demand and reduce operating costs. The integrated data, generation and storage complex will feature a 100 MW AC hourly consumption capacity. Enlight said it plans to invest up to $1.1 billion in the project that will contribute to the strategic national goal of relocating large electricity consumers to regions with renewable energy production.
1.75 GW Saudi deal for JinkoSolar: JinkoSolar has also announced a deal to supply 1.75 GW of its n-type TOPCon solar modules to 2 projects in Saudi Arabia. These projects, 500 MW AHK2 and 1.25 GW MAS, were the winners of Saudi Arabia’s 5th round of its renewable energy auction. Jointly developed by EDF Renewables and SPIC Yellow River Company, these projects are being built by China Power Engineering Group Guizhou Engineering Company consortium. Earlier, JinkoSolar had secured a module supply contract for close to 3 GW of solar capacity in Saudi Arabia (see Around 3 GW Saudi Arabia Solar Module Supply Contract For JinkoSolar).
Off-grid solar for carbon dioxide mitigation: California, US-based off-grid solar systems supplier d.light says it has been able to successfully mitigate 40 million tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to the total annual emissions of Norway. This is thanks to the company providing its solar-powered solutions to more than 190 million people, mostly in Africa. These products include solar home systems, solar inverters, clean cookstoves, and energy-efficient appliances.
