100 MW solar project in Bahrain: Construction has started on a 100 MW solar power plant, being implemented by Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA). The project is expected to be completed by Q3 2026, when it will be equipped with 135,000 solar panels. Laying the foundation stone of the project, Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said it supports the kingdom’s plans to achieve 20% share of renewable energy in the electricity mix by 2035 under the National Renewable Energy Plan. Bahrain aims to reach carbon neutrality by 2060. In October 2025, EWA had launched a 100 MW AC tender for the Bilaj Al Jazayer Solar Project (see Bahrain Issues International Tender For 100 MW AC Solar Farm).

Qualified bidders for Saudi tender: Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has released a list of 22 qualified developers under round 7 of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). This round was launched in September 2025 for 3.1 GW of solar and 2.2 GW of wind energy capacity (see Saudi Arabia Calls For 5.3 GW Solar & Wind Energy Projects). For solar PV projects, the list comprises bidders from Saudi Arabia, China, France, Singapore, and India, among others.

150 MW solar and storage project in Israel: Shikun & Binui Energy, the Israel-based developer, will build a 150 MW solar project with an energy storage component of close to 460 MWh in Israel with Noy Fund. The build-own-transfer (BOT) agreement entails Shikun & Binui establishing the project within the existing solar thermal facility in the Ashalim area of Negev. Construction on the facility, estimated to cost NIS 573 million to NIS 603 million, is scheduled to commence in Q1 2026 and be completed within 18 months.

2.3 GW to be tendered in Tunisia: The Government of Tunisia has reportedly cleared more than 2.3 GW of new renewable energy projects that it plans to tender in 2026. This comprises 2 GW of wind and 350 MW of solar capacity. The solar project is planned to be located in Bazma (Kebili) and will be accompanied by a battery storage system, according to Pulse of Africa

20 MW solar project in Eswatini: Eswatini is gearing up to launch the construction of a 20 MW solar power plant in late January/February 2026. Project developer Anthem has secured a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC). Commissioning for this SZL 400 million project is scheduled for July/August 2027. This facility is the 1st of 5 renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) sites. The upcoming projects include Innovent 10 MW at Nsoko, Voltalia 15 MW at Ndzevane area, Sturdee Energy 15 MW at Bhalekane, and 15 MW at Ngwenya, stated EEC.
