Origis Energy to buy bifacial solar modules from Boviet Solar; Syncarpha Capital and Rosemawr launch $100 million solar and storage partnership; Scotland's Renewco Power acquires 2 GW solar and storage in the US; DOE ropes in Robert Downey Jr. to hire for Clean Energy Corps.

Origis Energy places 700 MW+ module order: Solar and energy storage developer Origis Energy from Miami, Florida has picked Boviet Solar Technology to supply it over 700 MW worth of bifacial solar modules under a master supply agreement. Vietnamese PV module maker Boviet Solar will deliver its Vega Series 550W PERC monocrystalline bifacial double-glass PV modules in 2023 to honor the contract.

$100 million solar and storage partnership: Fully integrated community solar, distributed generation solar, solar & storage developer Syncarpha Capital along with Rosemawr Sustainable Infrastructure Management have launched a $100 million financing partnership. This is aimed at deploying solar and solar+storage projects in Massachusetts and elsewhere in New England whose capacity they did not mention. Syncarpha currently operates more than 150 MW of ground mounted and rooftop solar assets in 10 US states. As for Rosemawr, it has invested in over 90 solar energy projects across 14 US states.

Renewco Power expands to the US: British energy giant SSE backed Scotland's Renewco Power has forayed into the US renewables market with the acquisition of 1.5 GW early stage utility scale solar projects and 500 MW battery storage facilities from Beaufort Rosemary. The latter, a Virginia based developer, has also entered into a partnership with Renewco to jointly develop 3 GW of solar and storage project to ready-to-build (RTB) stage in the country within 5 years. Focus of the partnership will be on states in the Southeast and Midwest US. To support these expansion plans, Renewco has secured £24 million from its existing investor Corran Capital via a capital raise from SSE. Since its launch in September 2021, Renewco is now working in the markets of the UK and Europe.

US DOE hiring for Clean Energy Corps: US Department of Energy (DOE) is on the look out for climate professionals to join its Clean Energy Corps to help deploy $62 billion investment from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to meet the national goal of a decarbonized power sector by 2035. Eventually the goal is to have a decarbonized US economy by 2050. Solar is a big part of the decarbonization plans. US President Joe Biden recently used his executive powers to ensure free movement of imported solar cells and modules into the country from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam for 24 months (see Biden Saves The Day For US Solar Industry). The DOE has roped in Actor and Founder of the FootPrint Coalition Robert Downey Jr to encourage Americans to help it research, develop, demonstrate and deploy solutions for climate change.
