GameChange Solar's 2.3 GW order win in Florida; Longroad Energy's 285 MW DC solar and 215 MW AC860 MWh storage project enters construction; Engie acquires 1.25 GW capacity from Revolve; Juwi sells 175 MW PV to DESS; NYISO completes final interconnection study for 7.452 GW RE capacity.

2.3 GW tracker orders for GameChange: US tracker maker GameChange Solar has announced securing orders worth 2.3 GW for a group of projects in Florida. Without sharing details about individual projects or the client, the management said it will supply Genius Tracker systems with ability to withstand windspeeds of over 150 mph to these plants. Recently, the company said it had expanded its cumulative US production capacity to 24 GW (see GameChange Solar Expands US Manufacturing Capacity To 24 GW).

Financial closure for Longroad Energy project: US based renewable energy developer Longroad Energy has achieved financial closure for its 285 MW DC Sun Streams Solar PV Project with 215 MW AC/860 MWh energy storage project. The Maricopa County located facility in Arizona has now entered construction with commercial operations expected to start in 2024. Longroad says it will then become the company's largest operational solar and storage project. The project is contracted to sell electricity generated to the Arizona Public Service (APS) under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). Longroad acquired this facility from First Solar in early 2021 that is also supplying its Series 6+ solar modules for the plant.

Engie acquires 1.25 GW solar and storage capacity: A wholly owned subsidiary of France's Engie, Engie IR Holdings LLC has acquired 1.25 GW solar PV and storage capacity in Arizona. Revolve Renewable Power Corp has sold the company its 250 MW Parker Solar and Storage Project along with 1 GW Bouse Solar and Storage Project. Transaction includes upfront payment of $2 million with remaining to be paid on the projects completing certain development milestones. Engie will be responsible for further development of projects including all future development costs and other financial liabilities.

Duke Energy acquires 175 MW solar in Colorado: Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions (DESS) has acquired 175 MW Pike Solar Project located outside Colorado Springs in Colorado, from Germany's Juwi that's also providing EPC services to the facility. It will be built with over 414,000 solar panels and provide electricity to the customers of Colorado Springs Utilities under a 17-year agreement. Both the companies plan to share operation and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities. DESS says it will be the largest solar facility on its system once it comes online in late 2023.

NYISO interconnection study complete: The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) has completed the final interconnection study for 27 new wind, solar, storage and transmission expansion projects with a combined 7.452 GW. It says these projects were assessed for their reliability and getting the developers to pay for any electric system upgrades. The study now brings these projects closer to starting their commercial operations.
