CleanCapital commissions 8.5 MW solar farm as Alaska's largest; Colgate-Palmolive signs VPPA for Scout Clean Energy project; Dimension Renewable Energy raises $237 million; Matrix & rPlus Energies constructing 200 MW AC solar plant; Affordable Wire Management and HellermannTyton announce partnership.

Largest solar park in Alaska: CleanCapital has commissioned an 8.5 MW solar project in Houston, Alaska, calling it the largest PV plant ever built in the state. Developed and constructed by Renewable IPP (RIPP), the project was financed by CleanCapital that will be the long-term owner-operator of the site. The facility is built on raw land and designed to minimize disturbance to the soil and vegetation. CleanCapital says Affordable Wire Management (AWM) implemented an above ground wire strategy with rugged metal cable hangers that are engineered to withstand corrosive environments and intense ice and snow loads. Cost-competitive power from the project, supported by a loan from the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA), is to be procured by Matanuska Electric Association (MEA).

Corporate VPPA for 209 MW solar: Consumer products giant Colgate-Palmolive has entered a virtual power purchase agreement (PPA) with Scout Clean Energy for the latter's 209 MW DC solar farm in Texas. Markum Solar Farm will enter construction in fall 2023 with completion scheduled for 2024-end. Located near Waco, the project is expected to generate enough clean energy for the ERCOT grid to power approximately 32,200 homes, said Scout which is a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable (see North America PV News Snippets).

$237 million for community solar: Community solar projects developer Dimension Renewable Energy has raised $237 million financing to support the construction of 120 MW DC distributed generation portfolio. It plans to locate this 28-project portfolio across New York, New Jersey, Virginia and California. It will provide solar energy to over 12,000 residential and commercial customers. More than half of the portfolio is dedicated to serving low- and moderate-income households. Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), a division of First Citizens Bank, acted as the lead debt syndicator, with NT Solar and Advantage Capital arranging the tax equity.

200 MW AC project under construction: Matrix Renewables and rPlus Energies have started construction of the 200 MW AC/261 MW DC Pleasant Valley Solar Project in Ada County, Idaho. It will be the largest solar facility in Idaho Power's service territory on completion, and will deliver power into the same grid that supports Meta's new data center in Kuna, Idaho. The project will use ET Solar modules, and Nextracker is the tracker supplier. Matrix is the majority owner of the project while rPlus Energies is the minority interest owner.
