  • The NSW Department of Planning and Environment has approved a 140 MW solar power farm in Mulwala
  • ESCO Pacific will develop the project using 300,000 solar modules with horizontal tracking technology
  • The project takes up the growing list of large-scale solar farms approved by the state to 51

The Department of Planning and Environment in New South Wales (NSW), Australia has approved one more solar power project in the Australian state. This takes the overall number of large-scale solar projects approved to 51 in NSW. The latest one is ESCO Pacific Pty Ltd.'s $119 million 140 MW Mulwala Solar Farm in Mulwala, near Albury.

Construction of the project is said to create 130 jobs, and on completion it will power over 52,000 homes. According to the project website, the site is currently used for agricultural purposes, mainly cropping activities. It will use around 300,000 solar PV modules with horizontal tracking technology to generate an output of up to 80 MW.

ESCO Pacific is already developing the 142 MW Ross River Solar Farm in Queensland in joint ownership with Palisade Investment Partners (see PPA Signed For 142 MW PV Capacity In Australia).

The 51st solar farm has been approved by NSW soon after it gave green light to 3 separate projects of Photon Energy & Canadian Solar, Edify Energy and Hanwha Energy, adding up to a cumulative 492 MW (see NSW Approves 3 PV Projects With 492 MW Capacity).
