Indian state run utility the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has invited bidders to bid for one solar PV power project of 250 MW capacity. This is part of the National Solar Mission (NSM) Phase-II, Batch-II, Tranche-I and will come up in Kadapa Ultra Mega Solar Park.
The entire capacity will go to one successful bidder. The NTPC has invited bids under the so-called open category, which means the successful developer will be at liberty to source cells and modules for this project from anywhere.
In March 2016, NTPC had invited bids for another 250 MW capacity for this park.
The Kadapa Ultra Mega Solar Park is located in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh and once completed it will have a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW. Andhra Pradesh is developing four solar parks. Along with Kadapa, the other three parks are the Ananthapuramu Ultra Mega Solar Park of 1,500 MW capacity, another Ananthapuramu-II Ultra Mega Solar Oark with 500 MW capacity and Kurnool Ultra Mega Solar Park of 1,000 MW capacity.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) had in August 2016 invited bids for 100 MW of PV with battery storage capacity for this park (see Solar & Storage Tender For Andhra Pradesh). It has extended the last date for bid submission to November 11, 2016, which was earlier set at October 14, 2016.
The deadline for bid submission is December 12, 2016. Once the bids are received, there will be a reverse auction from interested parties. More information about the tender is available here.
