The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (OPWP) has issued a tender seeking technical consultancy services for the development of its second utility scale solar power project. Solar 2022 IPP will have an anticipated capacity between 500 MW to 1,000 MW. The successful bidder will give advice on competitive tendering of the project.
No other details have been shared regarding the proposed project, except that it will be connected to the main interconnected system in the country.
OPWP will be offering tender documents to interested consultants until October 15, 2018. Submission deadline is November 13, 2018. More details are available on OPWP's website.
The first PV tender from OPWP had 500 MW capacity on offer, bids for which were shortlisted down to 12 names, none of which were local companies (see Oman Shortlists 12 Bidders In 500 MW Tender). This project will be located in Ibri, near Muscat.
In July 2018, in its 7-year statement for 2018 to 2024, OPWP had revealed it is planning 3 solar tenders with a minimum capacity of 500 MW to achieve its target of at least 2 GW by 2025 (see Oman To Issue 2 GW Of Solar Tenders).
