Going forward with its previous announcement regarding 23 GW grid-connected solar PV projects in Leh and Kargil regions in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has said it will be launching a request for selection (RFS) for Phase-I by December 31, 2018.
Under Phase-I, SECI will launch an RFS for 2.5 GW PV projects for Kargil region by December 31, 2018 on its website and the government's tender website. The original plan was to issue RFS documents by December 15, 2018. The brief announcement said, "Prospective bidders are requested to keep themselves updated on these website, as no additional advertisements will be issued/printed in this regard."
SECI had made the announcement for a massive 23 GW solar power capacity to be installed in Jammy and Kashmir. Under Phase-I, it had planned to issue tenders for 2.5 GW in Kargil and 5 GW in Leh districts (see India Plans 23 GW Solar PV For Jammu & Kashmir).
In July 2018, SECI had issued two tenders for 1.5 MW solar PV capacity each with battery storage component of 0.75 MW/2.5 MWh each for Indian Army's Military Engineering Service in Leh (see SECI Tender For 3 MW Solar+Storage In Leh).
