  • HDB of Singapore has awarded 50 MW rooftop PV capacity it tendered under third solar leasing tender in November 2017
  • The winner is a consortium of Sembcorp Solar Singapore Pte Ltd and Kurihara Kogyo Co. Ltd.
  • They will now deploy the solar capacity on 848 HDB blocks and 27 government sites by Q2/2020
  • With this auction, HDB has procured around 190 MW of solar power capacity for over 2,400 HDB blocks
  • Fourth tender under Singapore's SolarNova program will be launched in Q4/2019

Singapore's Housing & Development Board (HDB) has announced the winner of its third solar leasing tender with 50 MW capacity. The consortium of Sembcorp Solar Singapore Pte Ltd, and Kurihara Kogyo Co., Ltd. won the contract. The entire capacity will be deployed on 848 HDB blocks and 27 government sites by second quarter of 2020.

With this auction, HDB has now procured around 190 MW of solar power capacity for more than 2,400 HDB blocks. This means it has already achieved over 85% of its 220 MW target for the SolarNova program and other solar initiatives by 2020.

With the SolarNova program, Singapore's leading public sector agencies HDB and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) are moving solar. Singapore plans to generate 350 MW of solar power capacity by 2020.

This was the third edition of tenders of the SolarNova program. In December 2015, the first tender capacity of 76 MW under SolarNova program was awarded to Sunseap Leasing Pte Ltd, and the second tender was won by Million Lighting Co Pte Ltd in June 2017 to set up 40 MW capacity. The 50 MW tender was launched in November 2017 HDB (see Singapore Rooftop PV Tender For 50 MW). The previous two auctioned projects are expected to be completed by third quarter of 2019.

HDB will launch the fourth SolarNova tender in Q4/2019.

In May 2018, Singapore's Public Utilities Board (PUB) issued a tender for two floating solar PV projects with a cumulative capacity of 2.5 MW (see Singapore Calls For 2.5 MW Floating PV Tender).
