Solar Bags Lowest Average Price In Argentina’s MiniRen

As per the Argentinian Secretariat of Energy, among all participating technologies PV has quoted the lowest average weighted prices in the MiniRen auction.

There is news from the Argentinian renewable energy market where things are moving in the MiniRen or Round 3 auction of the RenovAr program. It is called MiniRen since power projects awarded under the round will be connected to medium voltage networks. The Secretariat of Energy in the country qualified 52 renewable energy projects in the technical evaluation stage submitted by 31 companies out of which 23 participated for the first time in a tender for renewable energy generation.

For the various participating technologies, the average prices offered were the lowest for solar PV with $57.9 per MWh. It was followed by wind at $58.2 per MWh, small hydro power at $103.6 per MWh, biomass at $106.1 per MWh, landfill biogas at $129.5 per MWh and finally biogas at $159 per MWh.

The final list of winners will be announced on July 22, 2019 and power purchase contracts signed on July 29, 2019. The government expects to add more than 300 MW to the 6,130 MW of power already awarded in under Round 1, Round 1.5 and Round 3 of the RenovAr auctions since 2016.
