Sri Lanka's Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is looking for developers to build, own and operate two solar power projects. Each of the two projects, Vavunathivu Solar PV Power Project and Polonnaruwa Solar PV Power Project, will have 10 MW capacity.
Both projects are open to bidding from national and international developers. Successful bidders will need to form a special purpose entity incorporated in Sri Lanka with limited liability.
CEB will be the off-taker for the clean energy generated by these solar plants for a period of 20 years.
The upper benchmark tariff for each of the two projects has been set at 18.37 SLR ($0.122) per kWh. The Request for Proposal (RFP) documents mention that 80% of the proposed tariff will be re-adjusted on the basis of US dollar variation as per exchange rate applicable.
The project company will need to put in at least 20% of the project cost as equity and it will also have to procure the land.
Proposals for the projects can be submitted until August 16, 2017. The 'letter of award' will be issued post cabinet approval. Further details can be accessed on the CEB website.
