  • Sungrow has launched the proposed PV inverter manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka
  • At this fab with 3 GW annual production capacity, Sungrow will manufacture central and string inverters
  • This is the company's first manufacturing facility abroad, all of its other fabs are located in China

Chinese PV inverter maker Sungrow has officially opened its 3 GW factory in India's Bengaluru on July 27, 2018. The inauguration of the fab in Kaniminike Village in the Bengaluru district is a milestone for the company – it is its first inverter manufacturing facility outside China.

Sungrow had announced in April 2018 that it plans to open its first inverter factory outside its home country China and said it would be located in the southern Indian state of Karnataka (see 3 GW Chinese Inverter Fab In India). The launch is on schedule. Sungrow opened its Indian office in 2015.

An important supplier of inverters for the growing solar PV market of India, Sungrow has already installed over 2 GW capacity in the country in the past 2 years. The company will now be at an advantageous position in India – not only will it have access to a local manufacturing facility where it will manufacture central and string inverters reducing shipment time and cost, it will also avoid taxes for importing inverters
