The Tunisian Ministry of Energy, Mines and Energy Transition has published the results of its 70 MW solar PV capacity with the lowest winning bid coming in at TND $0.12539 ($0.44) per kWh. The project will be built by Ecodelta.
The tender for this capacity was launched in July 2019 with winners required to enter into an offtake agreement with the national utility Société Tunisienne de l'électricité et du gaz (STEG) (see Tunisia Launches 3rd 70 MW Auction Round).
The 70 MW capacity was tendered to be developed in the form of 6 projects of 10 MW each and 10 projects of 1 MW each. It will cost around TND 150 million ($52.6 million) to build all this capacity.
All 6×10 MW projects will be located in Medenine, Gabes, and Kesserine governorates, and for these the winning bids ranged between TND 0.1253922 to TND 0.1299736 ($0.044 to $0.046) per kWh. Winners in this category, apart from Ecodelta are Quadran International; Mazarine Energy Tunisia; and the consortium of Tunur Ltd/Erebus Investment/Shanghai Electric; Hatem Mabrouk/BOT Energy; and Akuo Energy/HBG Holding/Noor Energy.
The 10 PV projects with 1 MW capacity had winning bids of TND 0.189500 to TND 0.213500 ($0.067 to $0.075) per kWh and will be located in the governorates of Medenine, Tataouine, Sidi Bouzid, Gabes among others.
The list of winning bids can be viewed on the ministry's website.
Last year, Tunisia completed its 500 MW solar tender with all the winning bids coming in under $0.03 per kWh (see $0.0244/kWh Lowest Bid For Tunisia's 500 MW Tender).
