The Indian joint venture of Total Eren and EDF Renewables has secured a 25-year long term power purchase agreements (PPA) for its 4 solar projects in India representing 716 MW capacity in total. EDEN Renewables India secured all this capacity in competitive auctions.
It identifies the projects as a 450 MW DC/300 MW AC plant in Rajasthan for which it signed a PPA with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in June 2019 (see INR 2.55/kWh Lowest Bid For SECI 1.2 GW Tender). The other projects are 2 projects of 98 MW DC/70 MW AC each and a 70 MW DC/50 MW AC project that are all located in the state of Uttar Pradesh; PPAs for these projects have been signed with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
Together all these projects are designed to generate nearly 1,200 GWh of annual solar power capacity. By the end of 2019, these are scheduled to start construction; the completion deadline is end of 2020.
Present in India since 2016, EDEN Renewables has been operating a total of 207 MW of installed capacity in the states of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.
"These large-scale projects are a lever for local economic development, they enable us to strengthen our presence in India and consider new projects in this country which represents a strategic market for EDF Renewables," said Frédéric Belloy, Executive Vice President International Operations at EDF Renewables. "These landmarks projects fit perfectly with the EDF Group's Cap 2030 strategy of doubling its renewable energy capacity in operation between 2015 and 2030 in France and worldwide."
