Trina Solar Wins Big In 1st Colombian RE Auction

As per the UPME list of winners, Trina Solar has secured all of the three winning solar PV projects in Colombia’s first renewable energy auction.

The National Energy Mining and Planning Unit (UPME) of Colombia has released the list of winners and off takers selected under the country's first renewable energy auction with China's Trina Solar bagging all the solar PV capacity contracted.

Operating under the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the UPME announced two days back awarding 1,298 MW of total renewable energy capacity to three solar PV plants and five wind power projects to provide 10,186 MWh of clean power per day once these become operational in 2022 (see Colombia Contracts 1.3 GW RE Under First Auction).

The seven winners will supply clean power to 22 companies that have been confirmed by the UPME to buy the generated power.

As per the list of winners released by UPME, the following solarprojects will be built by the winner, namely Trina Solar:

  • 90 MW CSF Continua San Felipe Solar Project to be built by Trina Solae Generador Colombia-San Felipe SAS ESP
  • 99 MW CSF Continua Cartago Solar Project to be built by Trina Solar Generador Colombia-Cartago SAS ESP
  • El Campano Solar Power Project, whose capacity is not known, to be developed by Trina Solar Generador Colombia-Campano SAS ESP
