At the end of April 2021, Turkey's aggregate installed power generation capacity was reported by the Turkish Electricity Commission Inc. (TEIAS) as 97.376 GW to which solar power contributed 7.065 GW, according to local PV association Gunder. It comes from 7,837 solar power plants.
According to TEIAS statistics, the country installed 101 MW PV in the month of April 2021, and altogether between January 2021 and April 2021, Turkey's newly added PV capacity was 398 MW. In 2020, Turkey added 672 MW of new solar capacity taking its aggregate to 6.667 GW. The Turkish Solar Energy Industry Association GENSED expects the nation to exit 2021 with 1.5 GW new capacity (see Turkey Installed 4.8 GW Renewable Energy In 2020).
In March 2021, Turkey's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said it received bids adding up to 9.44 GW in response to its 1 GW solar tender (see Turkey's 1 GW Solar PV Tender Receives Over 9 GW Bids).
