  • WBREDA has reissued a tender to develop 10 MW rooftop solar capacity across various locations in the state
  • This capacity is divided into 1,000 rooftop solar power systems each with a capacity of 10 kW each
  • The bidder quoting the lowest tariff will be awarded 500 such projects translating into 5 MW capacity
  • The remaining capacity is divided into 3 MW (300 projects) and 2 MW (200 projects) and will be awarded to the next lowest bidder
  • Last date for bid submission online is February 25, 2017

The West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) has floated a tender to develop grid connected rooftop solar PV power plants. Each of the 1,000 systems will have a capacity of 10 kW. The agency will start accepting bid submission from February 15, 2017 and closes on February 25, 2017.

This tender comes under the so-called domestic competitive bidding, which translates into procuring locally manufactured solar modules and cells.

The WBREDA had previously floated this tender in 2016, but had to cancel it owing to insufficient number of bids.

Selected bidders would need to offer their services in terms of design and engineering, manufacture/procurement, testing, supply, installation and commissioning. Tender conditions also include comprehensive maintenance service for a period of five years.

These solar arrays are planned to come up across the state of West Bengal. Bidders are required to quote for a fixed quantity of 500 solar systems out of the total 1,000. These 500 systems equal to 5 MW will be awarded to the bidder quoting the lowest tariff. The second lowest bidder will get 300 projects or 3 MW, and the next lowest bidder will be awarded 2 MW capacity or 200 projects.

The 5 MW capacity will need to complete within 270 days from the date of letter of award, 3 MW within 210 days and 2 MW in a period of 180 days.

Bids for techno-commercial proposals will be opened on March 1, 2017.

The tender documents bearing NIT No. WBGEDCL/WBREDA/NIeT-10/16-17 can be downloaded from WBREDA's website.

Recently, another tender of 20 MW capacity was floated in the state.
