  • He is credited with contributing to PV research and its industrialization

  • He will receive the award officially in Austria during EU PVSEC 2024

Frenchman Dr. Daniel Lincot is the winner of the 2024 Alexander Edmond Becquerel Prize, a prestigious award given to solar PV industry professionals, scientists and researchers for their outstanding contributions.

Lincot has been chosen for this year’s award for his ‘life-long engagement in photovoltaic research, support for industrialisation, management of research, as well as dissemination and promotion of solar energy, in particular in France’.

A graduate of the engineering School ESPCI-Paristech, Lincot started his solar PV technology research while at the solid-state physics laboratory of CNRS in Meudon. A PhD, he started his research on copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) thin film solar cells at Chimie Paristech.

The Becquerel selection committee credits him with his contribution to the creation of several joint PV research institutes or solar companies, notably the IPVF institute in Palaiseau.

Among his many accomplishments, Lincot most recently won the Vittorio de Nora Award for 2024 from the Electrochemical Society.

He will receive the Becquerel Prize at the opening session of the 41st European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition or EU PVSEC 2024 to be held from September 23 to 27, 2024 in Vienna, Austria.
