The cleantech arm of Indian automotive manufacturer Mahindra Group, Mahindra Susten has secured ex-Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Leader for Renewable Energy and Storage, Deepak Thakur as the company's new MD and CEO with effect from August 15, 2022.
Mahindra Susten is the group's flagship entity in renewables working as an independent power producer (IPP) and solar EPC service provider. Along with Mahindra Susten, Thakur will also oversee the group's renewables business comprising distributed energy initiative Mahindra Solarize, and O&M segment Mahindra Teqo.
Thakur will directly report to the MD and CEO of Mahindra Group, Dr Anish Shah.
At RIL, Thakur was part of the core group to build the strategic plan for the New Energy vertical and actively involved in merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions for the same. Before that, he worked as the CEO of Sterling and Wilson's Hybrid and Energy Storage business. Other brands he has been employed with include Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Honeywell and Thermax.
Mahindra Susten says its new CEO has successfully handled various responsibilities in 3 decades of his career, encompassing sales, marketing, corporate strategy, business planning and strategic alliances in addition to P&L ownership across a wide spectrum of industries comprising energy, industrial equipment, electronics, and infrastructure.
