Stefan Degener, who worked with US headquartered solar module manufacturer First Solar for close to 8 years in various capacities, has now moved out of the group to join GreenGo Energy Group as vice president Business Development Europe and managing director Germany.
Degener was till recently working as First Solar GmbH's managing director and also as VP for EMEA region in charge of strategy development and implementation.
GreenGo Energy develops, constructs and operates large scale solar projects across Europe and the US from its headquarters in Vedbæk, Denmark. Degener will be responsible for building and expanding the company's 360° Development Service Platform in Europe and develop large scale PV power plants for international investors in energy and renewables, he announced in a LinkedIn post.
As for First Solar, the company was operating a manufacturing facility in Eastern Germany's Brandenburg which it shuttered in 2012. Commenting on the company's plans to invest further in manufacturing, equity research analysts from Cowen recently said the US company may consider restarting the fab or maybe plan a new greenfield facility in Europe (see First Solar Reveals 4th US Solar Manufacturing Facility).
