UK-based renewable energy company Low Carbon has announced the appointment of Annabel Wiscarson as the chief executive officer (CEO) to lead its Low Carbon Investment Management (LCIM) arm.

Joining in April 2024, Wiscarson will report to the company's Founder and Chief Executive Roy Bedlow. Wiscarson has also earned a position on the group's board. She will help the company accelerate the creation of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.

Wiscarson moves to the renewable energy company from Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), where she led the Investor Relations Group for 5 years. Having begun her career at Macquarie, she also established and led the IFM Investors Global Relationship Group in Europe.

"Throughout my career I have worked on infrastructure investment strategies that aim to meet investors' needs deploying capital in vital infrastructure assets all over the world. Joining Low Carbon is a chance for me to apply this experience to building a world powered by clean energy," said Wiscarson.

Low Carbon operates in the field of solar, wind, energy storage and energy from waste projects across the UK, Europe and North America. It aims to grow its operational capacity to 20 GW by 2030 and currently has more than 12 GW in new renewables in development globally.

Wiscarson's hiring follows the appointment of Neil Brown as the head of Capital Formation in November 2023. Brown switched over to Low Carbon from Actis.

Bedlow stated, "I am delighted that Annabel has chosen to join our purpose-driven company, and alongside Neil Brown and our Chairman Brian Clarke, we have the wealth of experience to match investor needs to the delivery of renewables at scale."
