  • Former ENERTRAG executive Tobias Bischof-Niemz has joined the company as its new CEO effective June 1, 2026

  • Management says the new CEO brings to the table international experience and understanding of energy systems

German solar tracker manufacturer IDEEMATEC has announced a leadership transition to support its next phase of international growth, appointing Dr. Tobias Bischof-Niemz as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Effective June 1, 2026, the company’s Co-Founder, Shareholder, and CEO, Mario Eckl, has stepped down from day-to-day management and assumed the role of Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Under Eckl’s leadership, IDEEMATEC says it grew from a single-product company into a global solar tracker provider, surpassing 10 GW of installed tracker capacity worldwide. Nearly 5 GW of that capacity was commissioned during the last 3 years.

The company expanded its presence to more than 30 countries while strengthening its position in the Agri-PV market, including securing Europe’s ‘largest’ agrivoltaics’ tracker contract for 226 MW capacity.

Eckl said the move marks ‘a new chapter’ for both himself and the company, adding that Bischof-Niemz’s international experience and understanding of energy systems make him well-suited to lead IDEEMATEC’s next growth phase.

Bischof-Niemz, formerly a member of the management board at the German renewable energy developer and independent power producer (IPP) ENERTRAG SE, brings around 20 years of experience in the global renewable energy sector to his new role at IDEEMATEC.

In one of his previous roles, Bischof-Niemz worked with The Boston Consulting Group and also with South African utility Eskom in various capacities.

Highlighting IDEEMATEC’s advanced technology, a globally experienced team, and strong market opportunities, Bischof-Niemz said, “The solar field is becoming the new power plant, and the tracker is one of its defining components. Trackers are a decisive factor in determining energy yield and value, plant reliability, bankability, and ultimately whether a project succeeds. IDEEMATEC has built exactly the right platform for the opportunities ahead.”

The company said rising demand for resilient supply chains, local execution capabilities, and high-performance solar infrastructure is creating new growth opportunities that it can capitalize on through its combination of German engineering expertise and local market presence.
